"From Africa to the New World"

The historical migration of percussion from African antiquity to urban hip hop, is the exciting rhythm fueled musical presentation of “From Africa To The New World”.  Master percussionist Victor Marshall, takes his audience on a musical exploration of the migration of African rhythmic influences around the world and throughout the ages.

With the fusion and adaptation of West African rhythms throughout the diaspora, Marshall Hand and Drum weaves and paints the journey of the connecting links of traditional African music and today’s contemporary sound.

This extraordinarily significant journey begins in ancient West Africa traveling to colonial Caribbean, South America and ending in modern North America. Marshall likes to use the traditional primordial rhythms to capture the audience then aurally carry them toward the contemporary drumming styles. At the end of the program, the audience will participate in an interactive rhythmic demonstration that closes with a question and answer period.
