Iwa L’ewa African Dance Company - Celebrating Life of Yewande

Often times, Marshall Hand & Drum is called upon to provide cultural performances for celebrations and special events of all kinds. Whether it is a baby naming, wedding, graduation, birthday or home-going celebration, MHD delivers skilled and creative entertainment to guarantee a memorial occasion.

This was the memorial service for our beloved sister Yewande Kelly-Johnson, as we celebrated in dance and music.

Yewande founded Iwa L'ewa in early 2000, after a memorial celebration and salute that honored our elders, in Harlem, New York. In this video clip we are performing "Lamba" to honor her life and spirit.
